Reflecting On 2020

Last year was a crazy one, huh? Though it seems like 2020 was just yesterday, we’re already swiftly making our way into the new year (how is it April already?!). Before we get too far into 2021, we wanted to do a little reflecting on all that we accomplished in the past year, and tease some exciting things in the works for 2021.

If there’s one thing that 2020 taught us, it’s that the only thing we can truly control is how we show up in the world. Through all the ups and downs of the last year, we have thankfully managed to uphold our mission of providing women survivors of abuse, addiction, prostitution, and trafficking a safe place and the resources to heal through programming such as residential recovery, employment, education, advocacy and empowerment, and more.

We’d like to thank all of our 2020 partners, volunteers, and donors who helped us get through the last year. We had over 40 volunteers furthering our mission by driving the Bloomies to healthcare and community connection appointments, building relationships with the Bloomies through lunch dates and Zoom visits, nourishing the Bloomies with prepared meals and nutrition education, and offering opportunities for healing through creative therapies like photography and art.

As we like to say, it takes a village, and we truly could not have gotten to where we are without you.

Looking Ahead

We’re excited to announce that we already have some exciting things in the works for 2021! At the beginning of the year, we welcomed two new Bloomies, who will both graduate in the fall after going through our program. We also started developing our body oil production facility at Bay Six. The local apparel and branding manufacturer stepped forward to offer production space for our organic body oils, and a place for us to work, heal, and grow together.

Ultimately, our wish for this year is to experience the heartbreaking beauty of community, the humbling power of compassion, and the roar of courage in the face of fear.

As the light at the end of the tunnel gets closer and closer into view, the more our hope for the future grows. Thanks for sticking by us through all the rough patches and we can’t wait to be able to gather together and hug again!
