Our sincerest gratitude goes out to Jason Foster, publisher of Best Version Media, for including BLOOMHERE in the latest print magazines being shared with our neighbors around town!
In Amberly Neighbors and North Cary Neighbors:
The story of BLOOMHERE began on an airplane in 2017, one of hundreds that international cosmetics executive Melinda Taylor would buckle into that year to travel around the country for work.
She had been resisting a call to change the world by first changing herself.
“The fear of the unknown was overwhelming – was I willing to take the risk of becoming who I was made to be? And who was I to offer healing for anyone? I had plenty of my own scars I had gladly covered up over the years,” she said.
But the calling persisted. Just a few months after leaving her corporate job to respond to her calling to serve women survivors of abuse and addiction, she launched the BLOOMHERE business plan.

More photos for our scrapbook! Two years ago our founder and director Melinda Taylor visited Homeboy Industries in LA to learn how they operate their cutting edge and successful justice enterprises. Homeboys employs former gang members, and they help light the way for our work here in Raleigh. Thank you, Homeboy! ...
We love our community partners! Thank you 🦷 team for getting us in today and making our Bloomie smile. We could not do what we do without our community partners. ...
ANNUAL REPORT sneak peek! 👀 While we put the finishing touches on our 2020 annual report, check out a preview of what we have in store for you:
A Letter From Deanna
When I came to BLOOMHERE, I had relapsed, and I was grieving the deaths of multiple family members. I had nothing to lose, but everything to gain. BLOOMHERE poured faith, hope, and love into me. With a lot of prayers, I have started learning to love myself again. Today I have 16 months clean and I am one of the top students in my GED class. Working on healthy relationships is a daily struggle, but I never give up, because I remember that when prayers go up, blessings come down. Sometimes God takes you back to where you've been, so you know where you need to go.️ ...
The sun is finally out in beautiful Raleigh this weekend! 🌞 Spring is around the corner, and the weather isn't the only thing changing in our neck of the woods. 🌸The Bloomies are taking big steps toward school and employment goals, and we couldn't be more proud. Stay tuned for details!

Many of our community members have marked the beginning of Lent, the 40 days leading up to Easter. Reflecting on the words of Jesus, a few friends shared this lesson with us recently, and we think it's a good rule of life.
It also reminds of the beauty of divine reversal: God and the Divine enter our lives by surprising us - shining light in the darkness, turning power on its head, and breathing life into the cold void. We certainly have stories like that, and you might also.
Lent is traditionally a time for "giving something up" (like meat on Fridays) in an effort to focus on our spirituality, but it can also be a time of adding something new to your life, like a new spiritual practice or way of seeing the world. How does this rule of life guide you? Your answer may be different every day.
Humility requires:
- listening to others and sharing resources
- prioritizing community over authority
- serving rather than being served ...
If you know Robin Donta, you know what it's like to have a ray of sunshine in your life. 🌞 Robin is kind, encouraging, loving, and so much more. She stood side by side with our founder Melinda Taylor to open the BLOOMHERE home in 2019, and we're grateful for her every single day as she continues to mentor and care for the Bloomies.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBIN! ...

Sometimes all the pieces just fall into place. Our @meredithcollege intern Barbara had planned a vision board activity that happened to fall on what would become our new Bloomie's first community meeting in her new home. We dug into our art supplies to celebrate our hopes and dreams with magazine cut outs, stickers, and our own drawings. Look at those beautiful designs!
